One of the last few legislations which Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo signed into law before the end of her term was the “Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010”, or more comprehensively known as RA 10121, Series of 2010 — AN ACT STRENGTHENING THE PHILIPPINE DISASTER RISK REDUCTION AND MANAGEMENT SYSTEM, PROVIDING FOR THE NATIONAL DISASTER RISK REDUCTION AND MANAGEMENT FRAMEWORK AND INSTITUTIONALIZING THE NATIONAL DISASTER RISK REDUCTION AND MANAGEMENT PLAN, APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREFOR AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES”.

KPSFI since the passage of the DRRM Act has integrated the advocacy in its programs and services, and has participated in implementing the National DRRM Plan under the Pnoy Administration at the local level, knowing fully well that, “DRRM is not only a humanitarian issue but a developmental issue as well”.
