Katotohanan, Pagkakaisa at Serbisyo Foundation, Inc. (KPSFI) is a member organization within the family of urban poor establishments based in General Santos City, South-Central Mindanao that is deeply ingrained with the experience of the restoration of Philippine democracy during the EDSA People Power Revolution in 1986.
The Mother PO (a people’s organization), Kamatuoran, Panaghiusan ug Serbisyo Association, participated actively in the exciting days following the revival of Philippine democracy after the fall of Marcos. The group’s fight to address the “homelessness and hopelessness” of the urban poor and other disadvantaged sectors (i.e., women, children, youth, elderly, IPs, labor), branded KPS as a “local repercussion of the EDSA Revolt”.
Between 2001-2004, a series of constructive developments enabled the Mother PO to spin-off and operate within the supportive ambiance of mutually reinforcing institutions: partnering with KPS Foundation Inc, KPS-SEED Microfinance Inc., and KPS Officers and Employees Multipurpose Cooperative to bring about poverty alleviation and sustainable development while “working with the poor.”
